TOMORROWS’S ENERGY

Advancing Argentina’s Green Hydrogen Frontier

New Energy Argentina’s current focus is on the development of green hydrogen and green ammonia projects. All our projects are developed following careful consideration and intensive studies in regards to social, economic, and environmental impact, and are guided by the principle of sustainability.

FLAGSHIP PROJECT

Gaucho

The Gaucho Wind to Hydrogen & Green Ammonia project aims to produce green ammonia for export, primarily to the European market, while addressing growing local demand as a secondary goal. In the first stage, the plan is to install 2 GW of electrolysers powered by an estimated 3.1 GW wind farm that can produce up to 1.2 Mt/year of green ammonia. The project advances New Energy Argentina’s mission to accelerate the transition to cleaner energy globally.

The plan is to implement the Gaucho project in stages.

ADVANCING FORWARD

In 2022, the necessary land was secured, which covers 276,350 hectares (with the possibility of expanding by an additional 120,300 hectares), and through our partnership with GIZ, we are working on a technical and economical analysis. Environmental, water & desalination, regulatory and permitting studies are slated to be accomplished by the end of 2026, with the engagement of international and experienced consultants in green hydrogen and green ammonia sector.

PROJECT BREAKDOWN

Twin Pillars of Argentina’s Hydrogen Strategy

Two landmark sites in Santa Cruz form the backbone of the Gaucho initiative, combining renewable energy, innovation, and sustainability. Together, they showcase Argentina’s potential to deliver green hydrogen and ammonia on a truly global scale.
